Job Description

This role provides regulatory and product stewardship support for the GI business across the EMEAI region. The postholder acts as a subject matter expert on relevant regulations, completing independent regulatory reviews, impact assessments, and compliance strategies, while supporting sites, projects, and export destinations. The role serves as the primary point of contact for legislative and product safety matters, responds to customer and agency inquiries, represents the business externally where appropriate, and leads continuous improvement initiatives, projects, and training to ensure robust compliance and business support.

Responsibilities

  1. COMPLIANCE SUPPORT 

Regulations and regulation review 

Articulate and apply regulatory requirements relevant for the GI business in the EMEAI region and export destinations. Collaborate with regional colleagues to define aligned approach towards compliance with relevant regulations. Develop compliance strategies for the GI business and sites. Complete regulation reviews and impact assessments without supervision. Act as the subject matter expert on regulations relevant for the GI business. Work in the internal Task Force for the evaluation of received exposure scenarios. 

 

Company representation 

Where appropriate, act as S-W Product Stewardship representative with outside parties such as trade associations, service provider working groups or professional association 

 

Data entry/integrity and system support

Define business rules for data evaluation. Drive improvement initiatives for systems. Support reporting from legacy systems used at GI sites for complete impact assessments 2. 

 

  1. CUSTOMER AND BUSINESS SUPPORT 

 

Customer inquiries

Respond to routine, non-routine and complex requests for internal and external customers independently and as part of the business stewardship customer request team. 

 

Respond and report to agencies 

Develop responses to Agency inquiries for review by manager and the legal team. 

 

Business and data support

Serve as the single point of contact to the GI business for the whole EMEAI region on legislative, regulatory and product safety issues. 

Provide support to R&D, Marketing, Sales, Customers and other stakeholders of the GI business. 

Provide strategic support to the GI business based on regulatory requirements. Monitor and articulate issues which will impact S-W products or our customers through annual substitution planning, ad hoc impact assessments and regular communication. 

Represent Product Stewardship in project meetings.

 

  1. CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

 

Process improvements

Identify areas of process improvement and communication. Assist in defining process or system changes necessary to address new or changing regulations. Continuously increase knowledge on available IT tools and put them to use for continuous process improvements. 

 

Projects

Lead complex product stewardship projects. Participate in less complex cross-functional projects. 

 

Training

Provide training and seminars for business team members or other groups within S-W on current trends in product stewardship.  

Qualifications

1. FORMAL EDUCATION

Required: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in a physical science or engineering

Preferred: Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field

2. KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • Internal: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Product Stewardship function or equivalent experience in related fields
  • External: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Product Stewardship / Regulatory Affairs
  • Experience managing chemical raw material and finished goods regulatory requirements in the EMEAI region (e.g. REACH, CLP)
  • Experience handling customer inquiries


Preferred:

  • 6 years’ experience in a Product Stewardship function or equivalent experience in related fields
  • Experience with global regulatory requirements
  • Experience within the paint & coatings or chemical industry
  • Experience supporting industrial and professional products


3. TECHNICAL / SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Required:

  • Skilled use of IT applications, including regulatory, product formulation, and ERP systems
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Fluent in English
     

Preferred:

  • Product development experience
  • Project management experience
