    Qualifications

    Job Goal
    To function as an extension of the Director position, ensuring the development and operation of
    comprehensive programs in Career and Technical Education (CTE) and adult and community
    education for the students and adult citizens of Hendry County.

    Position: Assistant Director of Workforce Development

    RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

    Performance Responsibilities
    ? Assist the Director in all operations of adult education, post-secondary, and CTE
    functions.
    ? Align departmental goals and missions with the District's broader strategic commitments
    while projecting future needs and identifying growth opportunities.
    ? Lead and assist in the preparation of self-studies, site visit documentation, and ongoing
    compliance reports required for post-secondary accreditation and state-wide program
    reviews.
    ? Proactively identify, write, and secure additional funding through federal, state, and
    private grants; manage Performance-Based Incentive Funding and Job Training
    Partnership activities.
    ? Coordinate directly with local business leaders and labor organizations to secure,
    monitor, and evaluate internships, and direct job placement opportunities for post-
    secondary CTE students.
    ? Assist in identifying, vetting, and administering industry certifications that meet the
    evolving needs of students, schools, and local industry partners.
    ? Collaborate closely with school-site administrators and guidance counselors to ensure
    seamless program progression, student recruitment, and appropriate student placement.
    ? Interpret and ensure strict adherence to federal and state statutes, Department of
    Education rules, and district policies and procedures.
    ? Direct and oversee comprehensive programs including ABE/GED, ESOL, CTE, and
    lifelong learning to ensure they prepare students for gainful employment.
    ? Plan, organize, and direct the work of department staff; assign responsibilities based on
    individual strengths; and provide ongoing coaching and support.
    ? Set criteria for staff evaluations, conduct annual performance appraisals, and collaborate
    with the Director on hiring needs and personnel actions.
    ? Facilitate staff training sessions and model high standards for professional growth by
    staying abreast of current research, trends, and legal issues.
    ? Oversee state reporting, FTE (Full-Time Equivalent) tracking, and the preparation of all
    required annual reports and student records.
    ? Coordinate frequent classroom visits and conduct quality review processes to assess
    program effectiveness and ensure instructional compliance.
    ? Manage ongoing operational functions, including the review of purchase orders,
    department budgets, and the planning of new or renovated technical laboratories.
    ? Establish and lead advisory committees; manage promotional materials and recruitment
    displays at job fairs, career days, and community events.
    ? Attend, prepare for, and/or present topics at school board meetings

    ? Maintain state-wide relationships with CTE and post-secondary colleagues.
    ? Identify and approve textbooks, instructional materials, and equipment requirements for
    all technical and adult programs.
    ? Provide direction for all career-related student organizations
    ? Assume responsibility for the administration of high school equivalency exams (GED).
    ? Use effective public relations skills to communicate with parents, students, and providers;
    proactively develop solutions to potential problems using creative problem-solving.
    ? Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the immediate supervisor, the
    Superintendent, or the School Board.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as
    frequently as needed to move objects.  Ability to actively perform work in classroom, office, and
    other business and community settings. Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous
    locations throughout the day (typically involving frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending,
    and lifting). Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting. Exposure to weather conditions.
    Ability to travel outside the district for a variety of meetings and conferences. 

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

    Calendar Months: 12 Month
    Salary Schedule: Administrative Pay Grade: Base
    Salary and Benefits as determined and approved annually by Hendry County School Board.
    This position is entirely dependent on workforce funding. Employment is contingent upon the
    continuation of workforce funding. In the event that workforce funding is reduced or
    discontinued, this position may be affected, up to and including termination of employment.

    EVALUATION

    Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with School Board Policies for
    evaluation of administrative personnel.
