Belmont University invites applications for the inaugural Program Director for the Center for Digital Visualization, a new and innovative academic unit housing the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Animation and Media Arts. The successful candidate will provide visionary leadership, oversee program development, and help shape the future of digital visualization education at Belmont.

The Program Director will hold a primary appointment in the Watkins College of Art and a secondary appointment in the Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business, reflecting the program’s interdisciplinary focus and alignment with Belmont’s creative and academic mission.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the design, launch, and assessment of the BFA in Animation and Media Arts curriculum.
  • Managing program operations and budget in collaboration with the Budget Manager.
  • Recruiting, mentoring, and evaluating adjunct faculty.
  • Advising and supporting students academically and professionally.
  • Overseeing course scheduling and curricular revisions.
  • Leading student recruitment initiatives and representing the program externally.
  • Ensuring compliance with university and accrediting body standards.
  • Teaching courses in the candidate’s area of expertise (with an administrative course release).

The ideal candidate will bring a record of academic leadership, professional experience, and a commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration.

    Minimum:

    • Terminal degree or undergraduate degree with veteran professional experience in Animation, Digital Media, or a related field.
    • Demonstrated experience in higher education teaching and/or professional practice in animation or media arts.

    Ideal:

    • MFA or PhD with evidence of academic leadership and curriculum innovation.
    • Proven experience fostering collaboration across art, media, and entertainment disciplines.
    • Commitment to Belmont University’s mission of transformative education through creativity and faith.
      
    Required EducationMinimum: Degree in Animation, Digital Media, Visual Effects, or a closely related field with industry experience.

    Ideal: MFA or PhD with demonstrated experience in program leadership, curriculum development, and professional achievement in animation, digital arts, or visual storytelling.

      
    Required ExperienceMinimum: Three years of higher-education teaching experience and/or professional experience in animation, visual effects, or digital production.

    Ideal: Five or more years of combined academic and industry experience, including demonstrated leadership in academic program development or management.





    The selected candidate will be required to complete a background check satisfactory to the University.
