Job Description
Job Title: Product Engineer
Department: Product Engineering

The Product Engineer is responsible for the technical ownership of printed circuit board (PCB) products throughout the product lifecycle, from initial customer engagement and design evaluation through production release and ongoing optimization.

This role serves as the primary engineering interface between the customer and internal teams, ensuring designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and aligned with internal process capabilities. The Product Engineer drives design-for-manufacturability (DFM), defines critical product parameters (e.g., stackups, materials, impedance), and partners cross-functionally to deliver high-quality, reliable PCB solutions in complex, high-mix manufacturing environments.

Job Details

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Own technical readiness of assigned PCB products from quote/NPI through production release, ensuring alignment to customer requirements and internal capabilities.
  • Define and validate stackups, material selections, and construction methods for PCB designs, including high-speed, RF, and advanced HDI and UDHI applications.
  • Develop and validate impedance models to ensure designs meet electrical and performance requirements.
  • Translate customer data packages (drawings, specs, Gerber/ODB++) into clear, actionable engineering and manufacturing instructions.
  • Evaluate PCB designs from a Design for Manufacturability (DFM) perspective, identifying potential production, yield, or reliability risks early in the process.
  • Recommend corrective actions or alternate design/manufacturing approaches to address identified risks.
  • Identify and communicate design-related issues or exceptions with the customer, the Product Engineering Manager, and internal teams, documenting findings and recommendations clearly.
  • Collaborate with Process Engineering, Production, Quality, and Production Planning to ensure smooth product introduction and execution.
  • Partner with CAM, Process Engineering, Production, Production Planning, and Quality to ensure designs are executable and aligned with process capabilities.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, including participation in technical reviews and alignment on tooling and manufacturing strategies.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and production planning teams to ensure smooth process hand-offs and alignment on tooling strategies including NPI reviews.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of PCB manufacturing processes, including multilayer fabrication, plating, imaging, drilling, lamination, and surface finishes.
  • Experience with stackup design, impedance control, and material selection for complex PCB applications.
  • Working knowledge of IPC standards (e.g., IPC-2221, IPC-6012) and their application in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Familiarity with PCB data formats (Gerber, ODB++, netlists) and ability to effectively interface with CAM functions.
  • Proficiency in CAM tools (e.g., UCAM, CAM350, InCAM, GenFlex, Genesis, or similar).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause and risk mitigation.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to engage cross-functional teams and interface with customers on technical topics.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-mix manufacturing environment with competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and planning functions.
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in PCB manufacturing, product engineering, or related technical role.
  • Experience with demonstrated expertise in complex PCB technologies (e.g., HDI, RF, high-layer count, controlled impedance) a plus.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Working Conditions:
This position operates primarily in an office environment and involves extensive computer-based work, requiring extended periods of sitting, use of standard office equipment, and consistent communication via email and virtual platforms. Flexibility in schedule, including occasional extended hours, may be necessary to support production demands, technical issue resolution, or other time-sensitive business activities.

While the ideal candidate is within commutable distance to our New Hampshire manufacturing facility and able to work on-site, we will consider a hybrid or remote arrangement for candidates with the right experience and demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively from a distance. Occasional travel to the manufacturing facility is expected for training, cross-functional meetings, and collaboration with operational teams.

All employees at GreenSource Fabrication are expected to support a safe, compliant, and efficient work environment, follow company policies, and contribute to achieving production and on-time delivery goals.
