Job Summary

Mayflower Gardens, a 502-unit senior and affordable housing community located in Lancaster, CA, is seeking a professional and customer-focused Leasing Consultant to support daily leasing operations and resident services. This role is responsible for managing the leasing process, assisting prospective residents, and ensuring a high level of customer service for both applicants and current residents. The Leasing Consultant ensures all leasing activities are conducted accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with affordable housing program requirements , and guidelines, as well as RHF policies and Fair Housing laws. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in working within regulated housing environments.

Key Responsibilities

Leasing Activities

  • Conduct property tours and present available units and amenities to prospective residents in a professional, welcoming manner.
  • Respond promptly to phone calls, emails, and walk-in inquiries from potential applicants.
  • Guide applicants through the leasing process, ensuring all required documentation is collected and accurately completed.
  • Prepare, review, and execute lease agreements in accordance with RHF policies and procedures.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current rental rates, lease terms, and unit availability.
  • Follow up with approved applicants to ensure timely move-ins and occupancy readiness.

Resident Relations

  • Provide courteous and efficient service to residents regarding lease inquiries, renewals, and general concerns.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance and housekeeping teams to ensure units are ready for move-ins and inspections.
  • Support new residents throughout the move-in process, ensuring a smooth transition.
  • Promote positive resident relations by maintaining a welcoming and supportive environment.
  • Assist in coordinating community communications, notices, or resident correspondence as needed.

Administrative Support

  • Maintain accurate and organized leasing files, records, and documentation in compliance with RHF policies.
  • Update leasing data and unit status within property management software (e.g., Yardi, OneSite).
  • Process lease renewals and document changes in resident information.
  • Assist the Property Manager with preparing reports on occupancy, leasing activity, and resident data.
  • Support general office operations, including filing, scanning, and handling correspondence.

Compliance & Professional Conduct

  • Ensure all leasing practices are conducted in compliance with Fair Housing laws and RHF standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all resident and applicant interactions.
  • Represent RHF positively, demonstrating a commitment to the organization’s mission and values.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework preferred.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in leasing, property management, or a customer service role.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and property management software (e.g., Yardi, OneSite).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Professional demeanor, reliability, and discretion when handling confidential information.

 

Compensation:

Actual base salary considers several factors including but not limited to geography, job-related knowledge, experience, and budget. The start of the salary range is typically associated with the minimum experience required.

The role is considered non-exempt and may be eligible for overtime pay in accordance with federal and state law. The anticipated base pay range for the position is $18.00- $22.00 per hour.
