Position Summary: Licensed Social Worker that provides and coordinates the mental health, social, emotional, and behavioral services to promote student well-being. In addition, Provide a problem solving service to children and their families.
Qualifications:
- Masters Degree from a graduate school of social work program (M.S.W.). A minimum of a 500 clock hour supervised social work practicum. Satisfactory completion of 1 year as a school social worker with direction from a fully approved (school) social worker or comparable internship.
- Valid License issued by the Missouri State Board of Social Work, Licensed Master Social Worker (graduate MSW, pass exam) LMSW
or
- Valid license issued by the Missouri State Board of Social Work, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LMSW, pass exam, 3,000 hours supervised experience) LCSW
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs casework service with individual students to support those personal, social or emotional needs related to their educational and social progress.
- Coordinator or serve as a member of building teams and educational planning for students.
- Makes home visits to support students and families.
- Implement intervention strategies consistent with evidence-based best practices, including direct and/or group therapeutic services, staff support, and classroom strategies
- Coordinate the resources dedicated to students’ mental health and well-being to ensure full integration and equitable distribution of social-emotional services in school
- Conduct immediate clinical screenings for students expressing suicidal ideation; coordinate with families and emergency providers for hospitalization or re-entry plans.
- Maintain excellent, electronic documentation to create a seamless system of coordinated student care. a. Ensure documentation is consistent, accurate, and up-to-date.
- Provide recommended documentation for grade level, internal and external transfer
- Provides crisis intervention services.
- Serve as a member of the Building Threat Assessment Team to evaluate potential safety concerns and develop management plans for high-risk students.
- Collaborate with family and community resources to provide comprehensive mental health services to the whole child.
- Support students experiencing homelessness by ensuring immediate access to transportation and community resources.
- Monitor coordination of service progress and adjust services as needed.
- Assists in providing in-service training programs.
- Utilize a Trauma-Informed Care framework to assess and support students impacted by adverse experiences.
- Supports schools in dealing with various agencies on behalf of students and/or families.
