Job Description

Texas Organ Sharing Alliance (TOSA), founded in 1975, is one of 57 federally designated Organ Procurement Organizations (OPOs) in the United States. TOSA is committed to a mission of saving lives through the power of organ donation by providing organ donation and recovery services to Central and South Texans wishing to donate, and to those waiting for a life-saving organ transplant. JOB SUMMARY: The Organ Placement Supervisor position supervises and supports the clinical functions of the organ placement coordinators. Chief accountabilities of this position include supervision of all aspects of organ allocation and utilization. In addition, this position will oversee clinical staff for donation activities, development, and staffing models. This position requires travel by company or personal automobile or commercial aircraft to accomplish the job responsibilities. This position will have access to confidential material and needs to use discretion with this information while strictly adhering to the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance confidentiality policy.

 

WORK SCHEDULE: The Organ Placement Supervisor position is a full-time position. Normal office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday with on-call requirements as needed. The employee may occasionally have to work evenings or weekends, as needed. Assignments may require 24 plus hours of continuous service during periods of increased activity, in addition to inter-regional travel.

 

KEY FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

  • Accepts Administrator on-call responsibilities as assigned.
  • Supervises daily renal and pancreas and research allocation activities to ensure adherence to OPTN/UNOS and organizational policies.
  • Reviews and approves employee timesheets and out-of-pocket expense reimbursements to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Provides real-time guidance and escalation support for complex allocation and placement decisions.
  • Monitors allocation performance metrics, documentation accuracy, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Participates in quality review of allocation activities and participates in post-donor case evaluations.
  • Oversee onboarding, training, competency validation, and performance management of OPC staff.
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Organ Utilization on allocation policy implementation, process improvement, and strategic initiatives.
  • Serves as operational backup and escalation contact as needed.
  • Ensures that all donated organs are allocated in an efficient and equitable manner in accordance with TOSA and OPTN/UNOS policies.
  • Actively participates in coaching opportunities and annual performance reviews. 
  • Facilitates monthly 1:1 meetings with timely completion of follow-up. 
  • Demonstrates leadership skills, acts as a mentor and role model for fellow staff members and facilitates a team-building atmosphere.
  • Collaborates with directors, managers, and others in the effective implementation of assigned duties.
  • Provides input and facilitates Root Cause Analysis on clinical variances. 
  • Facilitates completion of Corrective Action Plans with clinical staff.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in interdisciplinary quality meetings post-donor review with team members and appropriate management staff.
  • Participates in education and training for internal staff and external stakeholders.
  • Ensures compliance with TOSA’s Safety, Quality, and Multicultural Organizational Plans.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Serves as a backup to the organ placement coordinators to fulfill business needs
  • Works in collaboration with the Manager of Organ Utilization to review, implement, and enforce allocation policies and changes.
  • Assists with auditing of data and reports back to the Manager of Organ Utilization.
  • Serves as a backup contact for the Manager of Organ Utilization.
