About Helix Aviation Academy: Helix Aviation Academy is a STEM-focused, public charter school within the Helix Community Schools network, dedicated to empowering students through rigorous academics, real-world learning, and innovative technology integration.

Position Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and innovative Physical Science Teacher to join our instructional team. The ideal candidate is passionate about science education, understands how to connect physical science concepts to real-world applications, and is eager to integrate technology to enhance student learning and engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, standards-aligned Physical Science instruction to high school students.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies and digital tools to promote inquiry, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
  • Create and maintain a positive, structured classroom environment that supports academic and personal growth.
  • Analyze student data to inform instruction and support differentiated learning.
  • Collaborate with team members on interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives.
  • Foster strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues to support a positive school culture.

Additional Expectations:

  • All staff are expected to sponsor one club or Enrichment during school hours when scheduled. Additional pay is not provided, as this is a part of every teacher's job role.
  • All teachers who teach at Helix Community Schools will be expected to constantly grow in the use of technology to enhance student learning because we are a part of Verizon Innovative Learning Schools and genuinely believe in digital equity for our students.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Physical Science, Education, or a related field (required)
  • Valid Louisiana teaching certification in Physical Science or eligibility to obtain one
  • High school teaching experience preferred
  • Strong classroom management, planning, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate technology in the classroom
  • A growth mindset and commitment to educational equity
