Job Duties

  • Use hand tools such as spike mauls, sledgehammers, punches, claw bars, pry bars, track wrenches, and hydraulic tools
  • Operate rail-related equipment safely and efficiently
  • Perform pre-operation checks to ensure tools and equipment are ready for use
  • Assist with routine maintenance such as checking fluids and basic upkeep
  • Move earth, rail materials, and heavy objects using hand tools
  • Communicate with crew members to complete tasks efficiently
  • Follow all safety rules and procedures at all times
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

 

Requirements

  • Experience using hand tools and construction or rail equipment preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a crew
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to respond to call-outs and work overtime as needed
  • Dependable, hardworking, and team-oriented

 

Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation)

  • Walk long distances, including 1/8 mile or more on rail track
  • Stand, bend, stoop, climb, and reach throughout the workday
  • Lift and carry tools and equipment up to 50 lbs
  • Climb into and out of rail equipment, trucks, and machinery
  • Perform groundwork and physically demanding tasks
