What You’ll Do
As our AI & Automation Engineer, you’ll play a key role in building and improving the systems that power our operations. Your mission is to help High Performance Aviation operate like a modern AI-enabled company by automating workflows, integrating systems, building internal tools, and improving operational efficiency across the organization.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building systems from the ground up, experimenting with new AI tools, and creating practical solutions that have immediate business impact in a fast-moving small business environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Workflow Architecture: Design, build, and maintain automation workflows that eliminate manual processes and improve operational efficiency
- System Integration: Create seamless connections between business systems using APIs, webhooks, and cloud-based integrations
- Custom Development: Develop custom business logic, scripts, and integrations using Python and JavaScript
- AI Implementation: Research, integrate, and optimize AI tools including OpenAI APIs, embeddings, document processing, and AI-assisted workflows
- Internal Tool Development: Build lightweight operational tools, dashboards, and customer-facing systems that improve efficiency and client experience
- Quality Assurance: Debug, test, and optimize workflows and systems for reliability, scalability, and maintainability
- Infrastructure & Deployment: Support deployment workflows, cloud-hosted systems, GitHub repositories, and technical infrastructure as needed
- Documentation & Support: Maintain clear technical documentation and provide guidance to internal stakeholders
What We’re Looking For
Essential Requirements
- Automation Platform Experience: Hands-on experience building workflows using platforms such as n8n, Zapier, Make, or similar automation tools (n8n experience strongly preferred)
- Programming Proficiency: Strong skills in Python and JavaScript, particularly in automation and integration environments
- API Expertise: Deep understanding of REST APIs, webhooks, authentication, and system integrations
- AI/ML Familiarity: Working knowledge of AI tools, large language models, and emerging automation technologies
- Independent Work Style: Ability to work autonomously while maintaining strong communication within a small, dynamic team
- Problem-Solving Mindset: Ability to quickly identify operational inefficiencies and implement practical technical solutions
Preferred Qualifications
- Located in or near Conroe, TX for occasional in-person collaboration
- Experience with CRM systems and cloud-based business platforms
- Familiarity with GitHub, cloud hosting platforms, and deployment workflows
- Experience building internal business tools or operational systems
- Background in aviation, sales operations, or B2B environments
