Job Description: Structural Engineer
Role Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Structural Engineer to join our team. This role will focus on the design, analysis, and verification of both temporary and permanent structural systems. The successful candidate will work on a range of civil infrastructure projects, including formwork, shoring, bulkheads, and material handling support structures, as well as permanent systems such as foundations, anchor bolt layouts, retaining walls, bridge elements, and culverts.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and analyze formwork, falsework, shoring, scaffolding, bulkheads, and other temporary support systems used during construction.
- Perform handling, lifting, and rigging calculations for precast and heavy civil elements such as beams, girders, piles, and precast panels.
- Prepare engineering calculation packages, temporary works drawings, and installation procedures in coordination with Contractors.
- Provide technical support during construction phases, including sequencing, bracing, and safe load transfer methods.
- Coordinate with Contractors and safety teams to ensure constructability and compliance with site conditions.
- Design and detail foundations, including spread footings, pile caps, drilled shafts, and raft foundations for heavy civil infrastructure.
- Design and layout anchor bolts, embedded plates, dowels, and other interfaces between civil and structural components.
- Perform structural analysis and design for:
- Culverts (box and pipe types)
- Bridge substructures and superstructures (abutments, girders, deck slabs)
- Underground utility structures (manholes, vaults)
- Ensure compliance with civil engineering codes such as AASHTO, ACI, AISC, ASTM, and local standards.
- Participate in value engineering reviews, field change designs, and constructability assessments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or working toward licensure is preferred.
- 5 years of experience in structural design and analysis for civil infrastructure projects.
- Proficient in structural software such as STAAD.Pro, Tekla, or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of ACI, AISC, ASCE, AASHTO, and other relevant codes and practices.
- Experience with CAD and/or BIM tools (AutoCAD, Revit).
