Position Description
Reporting directly to the Manager, Academic Finance and Institutional Planning, the Academic Projects and Research Analyst supports the academic mission of the university through the analysis and dissemination of academic data and by managing projects that further the academic priorities of the university. The incumbent will be a key member of a team working collaboratively across the Academic Vice-President and Provost’s Office and Registrar’s Office.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced technical support in compiling, maintaining, analyzing and evaluating data in support of academic planning, reporting, and decision-making.
- Prepare institutional data for dissemination. This will include preparing, and sometimes delivering formal presentations, narratives, and written reports tailored to the target audience, including senior administrators.
- Compile annual academic departmental data reports for the Provost’s Office.
- Support development of new programs by assessing workforce demand and conducting feasibility analysis (including financial feasibility) for new programs. Engage directly with external stakeholders to understand how StFX programs can best meet external needs.
- Review existing data governance and institutional research policies that fall within the scope of the role to identify gaps and recommend improvements.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
- 5 to 7 years of experience with data analysis and reporting.
- Experience working with complex data sets, conducting statistical analysis and producing reports for internal and external audiences.
- Demonstrated high level of verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in and understanding of post-secondary education.
- Understanding of and commitment to confidentiality.
