The Safety Specialist will work with the project and construction teams to ensure activities are following safety regulations and procedures allowing them to identify hazardous conditions and where necessary implementing safe work procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the construction management team (CMT) and contractors.
  • Ensure all safety, health, and environmental procedures and work instructions are followed.
  • Conduct workplace inspections with CMT, focusing on behavioral observations.
  • Review field-level risk assessments (FLRAs) and daily contact cards for quality adherence.
  • Conduct and monitor SHEQ-related training for construction management team personnel and contractors, and assess qualifications of construction contractor personnel.
  • Participate in job hazard assessments, safety meetings, toolbox talks, constructability reviews, project kick-off meetings, as required.
  • Conduct daily and weekly job site inspections per procedure.
  • Identify and review various health and safety concerns specific to the work site.
  • Investigate injuries, accidents, and near misses in accordance with site corrective action processes.
  • Ensure timely notification of significant events.
  • Monitor the quality of incident investigations and ensure effective and appropriate corrective actions are implemented promptly.
