The Opportunity 

Greenwich House is seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Member - Handyman to join our Facilities Team. This individual will be responsible for performing general maintenance, repair, and cleaning tasks across all Greenwich House buildings. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with basic repairs, is self-motivated, and thrives in a dynamic, multi-site environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general repairs including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting tasks.
  • Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment.
  • Respond to maintenance and repair requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain clean and safe building interiors and exteriors.
  • Willing to perform general cleaning duties as needed to support building operations.
  • Assist in seasonal upkeep, including snow removal, AC filter cleaning, and boiler inspections.
  • Support event setup and breakdown as needed.
  • Communicate with site directors and Facilities leadership to prioritize daily and weekly tasks.
  • Track and report completed tasks and materials used.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors when required.

 

What You’ll Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training a plus.
  • 3+ years of handyman or general maintenance experience.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs and perform physical labor.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred; must be willing to travel between GH site locations.

Location: Onsite - 623 Broadway, New York, NY/All GH Sites 

Schedule: 35 hours/week, Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

Employment Type: Full-Time

Reports To: Director of Facilities 

Union Representation: Non-Union 

 

Salary Range 

The expected hourly rate for this position is $20.00. This rate reflects the anticipated compensation at the time of this posting and may be adjusted based on experience, education, and organizational needs.
