    AVONDALE SCHOOL DISTRICT

     

    POSITION: CERTIFIED NURSE ASSISTANT & MEDICAL ASSISTANT

     

    HOURS PER DAY: 8

     

    WORK SCHEDULE: Monday thru Friday

     

    PAY RATE: $21.50/ hour commensurate with experience

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    CNA or Medical Assistant Certification is required

     

    Current State of Michigan Licensure

     

    Must be at least 18 years old

     

    Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities

     

    Mental and physical ability to perform assigned job duties; must pass a physical examination including drug test

     

    Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

     

    Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance to the job is an essential function

     

    REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Transportation

     

    SUPERVISES: None

     

    JOB GOAL: To assist in providing safe transportation of special needs students to and from designated locations.

     

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    Duties and responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to the following:

     
          
    • Tracheostomy Care, Frequent Suctioning, Monitoring respiratory status and ventilator and/or oxygen support as necessary.
    •     
    • Health procedure training e.g diastat, feeding tube, catheter, diabetic care/monitoring.
    •     
    • Must be able to position self to secure any special equipment accompanying student, including wheelchairs, shoulder harnesses, seat belts, for both child and youth
    •     
    • Ability to move, remove, and/or position lifts and wheelchairs to assist the driver
    •     
    • Ability to ascend and descend school bus and assist young or disabled students in ascending and descending school bus
    •     
    • Responsible for being alert to any conditions in the loading and unloading area which present a danger to the student
    •     
    • Know evacuation and emergency procedures and be able to assist, kneel, crouch or crawl to perform and/ or assist in bus emergency
    •     
    • Ability to move or transport a minimum of 75 pounds
    •     
    • Ability to move or traverse to assist the bus driver in maintaining good student conduct
    •     
    • Responsible for following guidelines outlined in the Transportation Handbook, as well as District guidelines, policies, and procedures.
    •     
    • Use appropriate communication, display a courteous and caring attitude in dealing with students, parents, and other employees
    •     
    • Assists in providing written records of violations of the student code to the Supervisor of Transportation or Dispatcher.
    •     
    • Maintains student emergency information.
    •     
    • Attends any required training and in-services
    •     
    • Attendance to the job is required
    •     
    • Lifting above the head is required.
