Job Description


This voluntary internship opportunity is with our Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP). The Housing Choice Voucher Program assists low-income individuals and families in Chester County find and maintain affordable housing. The Housing Authority is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to support the HCVP team. The intern will assist staff in reviewing, updating, recertifying, and verifying participant eligibility for the Housing Choice Voucher Program.

 

Duties:

·  Assist with gathering and verifying documentation for annual and interim recertification from participants

·  Support communication with participants regarding required paperwork, deadlines, and appointments.

·  Enter and update participant information in the housing management system, Yardi

·  Help staff track and monitor recertification timelines

·  Prepare files for the audit and ensure records are accurate and complete.

·  Provide administrative support to HCVP staff including filing, scanning, and correspondence.

·  Assist staff with filing confidential participant paperwork

·  Participate in community outreach and tenant education as needed.

·  Other duties as assigned

·   Ability to use the computer and various software to perform responsibilities efficiently

 

Work Environment:

·   Work is principally sedentary but may involve some physical exertion such as, kneeling, crouching, or lifting to obtain files and records, and eyestrain from working with computers and other office equipment

·   Must be able to sit or stand for up to 8 hours at a time while performing work duties

·   Must be able to bend, stoop, push and pull in the performance of office-related duties

·   Must be able to use fingers bilaterally and unilaterally to operate office equipment

·   Must be able to perform essential job functions in an environment that sometimes includes increased stress levels
