Join Our Growing Operating Room Team
Surgery Center of Highlands Ranch is a new, state-of-the-art, multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center experiencing exciting growth. We are proudly the only ASC in Colorado equipped with a DaVinci XI Surgical System, and we are preparing to move into a larger facility to support our expanding services.
We are currently seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) to serve in a Charge Nurse role, providing both clinical leadership and hands-on perioperative care in our high-performing surgical environment.
Position Overview
The Charge Nurse – Operating Room functions as the clinical and operational leader for daily OR activities while also providing direct patient care. This role oversees staff assignments, patient flow, and operating room efficiency while promoting excellence in perioperative nursing practice, patient safety, and team development.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision
- Lead, manage, and supervise Operating Room nursing staff and support personnel
- Serve as a clinical role model and align daily operations with organizational values
- Conduct one-to-one supervision sessions and performance appraisals
- Mentor staff, provide real-time guidance, and address practice concerns constructively
- Promote teamwork and encourage staff input to improve surgical services
- Resolve unit-level concerns collaboratively, escalating to HR when needed
Clinical & Patient Care
- Deliver high-quality perioperative nursing care in alignment with best practices
- Circulate surgical cases as required based on case volume and staffing needs
- Support admissions, intraoperative care, and post-procedure transitions
- Ensure person-centered, individualized care for all surgical patients
- Support nurses managing complex cases or patients with special needs
Operating Room & Administrative Oversight
- Coordinate daily OR workflow including admissions, discharges, and case flow
- Assign nursing staff and support staff appropriately based on acuity and skill mix
- Remain flexible and adapt staffing plans during high-volume days or emergencies
- Assist with staff scheduling to maintain appropriate coverage and compliance
- Monitor supplies, equipment, and instrumentation to support OR readiness
- Communicate policy, procedure, and protocol updates to all staff
Education & Professional Development
- Act as an educational resource for OR nurses and new hires
- Develop and support orientation and ongoing competency-based education
- Perform training needs assessments and support professional growth
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, OSHA, fire safety, and infection control standards
- Maintain accurate, timely, and regulatory-compliant documentation
- Report incidents, injuries, and unsafe practices promptly
- Serve as a named nurse or link nurse as assigned
- Maintain professional relationships with accrediting and regulatory bodies

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent experience required
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Colorado
- BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers required
- PALS and/or ACLS preferred (may be obtained upon hire)
