Job Description
  • Plans and conducts the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration of daily inbound coal deliveries to assure the quality of coal blend delivered to plant provides optimal coke quality, coordinating efforts with other resources as required.

 

  • Monitors coal and coke scales for accuracy, reporting issues to appropriate resources to implement corrective actions in a timely manner.

 

  • Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.

 

  • Utilizes statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes; adjusting processes accordingly to optimize coke quality.

 

  • Evaluates purchased coal and/ or components for quality compliance, recommending whether to accept the product and future purchases from the vendor.

 

  • Maintains regular communication with supplier/vendors regarding quality of coal and/or components working to address any issues or discrepancies.

 

  • Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities in accordance with company policies and procedures. Completes and maintains various reports in support of operations or to meet customer needs.

 

  • Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.

 

  • Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to leadership.

 

  • Prepares and presents technical and program information to team members, contractors, vendors, or others as required.

 

  • Maintains compliance with appropriate federal, State and local safety and/or  environmental regulations, reports and notifies appropriate plant personnel of any deviations per established standards.

 

  • Participate in incident investigations as required, including reporting incidents to appropriate personnel, completing required documentation, recommending and implementing corrective actions, and communicating findings as appropriate.

 

  • Trains and coaches team members in efficient work procedures, safe work practices, and good housekeeping practices. Coaches and encourages development and growth of skills and abilities.

 

  • Monitors, reviews and analyzes reports and data to identify trends, root cause analysis (RCA), or non-compliance;  recommending and implementing corrective actions accordingly. 

 

  • Works effectively with Team Members at all levels of the organization within areas of responsibility, consulting with HR, Department Manager, or other parties as necessary

 

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
