Cedarville University is seeking an Assistant Volleyball Coach to help foster a distinctive culture in competitive athletics that commissions student-athletes to impact the world for Christ.. This is a full-time, exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The Assistant Coach supports practice and game preparation, recruiting, student-athlete development, and program operations while promoting a culture aligned with the mission and values of Cedarville University. Responsibilities include assisting with practices and competitions, recruiting and communication efforts, academic and athletic development of student-athletes, assisting with summer camps, leading the JV program as the head coach (two months) and ensuring compliance with NCAA, conference, and university regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Previous coaching experience at the collegiate level or coaching experience at the high school, club or collegiate level
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division I or II athletics, either as a student-athlete or coach, preferred
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with coaches, student-athletes, parents, and others
  • Self-motivated with strong initiative and work ethic
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision

REQUIRED MENTAL/PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities with attention to detail and adherence to deadlines
  • Ability to actively participate in practices and competitions, including demonstrating volleyball skills (serving, passing, setting, hitting)
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move continuously during practices and competitions
  • Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks such as tossing, hitting, and feeding balls during drills
  • Ability to react quickly and move safely in a fast-paced gym environment
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required by the athletic schedule
  • Ability to operate school vehicles (cars/vans) in accordance with institutional policies

CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess, or be able to obtain, current American Red Cross Standard First Aid or AHA Heartsaver First Aid certification
  • CPR/AED certification (required or preferred, depending on your standard)

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Access to reliable transportation for travel to practices, competitions, and recruiting activities
