Position Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Perform routine maintenance of buildings and grounds, including minor repairs, fixture installation, and window replacement.
- Respond to maintenance emergencies promptly under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Communicate regularly with the Maintenance Supervisor regarding the status of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Order, pick up, and deliver maintenance supplies as approved by the supervisor.
- Complete basic home repairs, including but not limited to:
- Painting and caulking
- Minor wall and door repairs
- Basic electrical and plumbing work
- Wallpapering
- Buff and wax floors as needed in assigned facilities.
- Perform maintenance-related duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Complete all assignments in a timely and efficient manner.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of one year of experience performing minor repairs, including electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work preferred
- High School Diploma or GED Required
- Valid New York State driver’s license and ability to meet insurance requirements for operation of agency vehicles
- Willingness and ability to travel to other agency locations as needed
- Compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Adherence to the agency’s Corporate Compliance Program, including completion of all required annual training and full cooperation with compliance-related investigations
Physical Demands
The physical demands described below are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this position.
- Frequent standing and walking; occasional sitting
- Frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and reaching
- Frequent use of hands and arms for grasping, handling, and operating tools
- Frequent climbing of stairs, ramps, and ladders (indoors and outdoors)
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Requires sufficient vision for close work, distance viewing, depth perception, peripheral vision, color vision, and focus adjustment
- Ability to perform routine and special building maintenance tasks.
- Ability to work flexible hours as assigned.
- Ability to travel throughout the Hudson Valley as needed.
- Ability to make minor repairs independently.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
- Basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical skills preferred.
- Strong awareness of safety procedures and ability to recognize unsafe conditions.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting.
- Operates a variety of hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment required to safely and effectively perform assigned duties
License:
- Valid New York State Driver’s License.
