REPORTS TO: ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT OF CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION
ASSIGNMENT: ELAR (Reading/Literacy), Math, Science, Social Studies
ROLE AND PURPOSE:
Facilitate communications among campuses and central office; embrace CCISD's academic and accountability program to ensure on-level instruction and the implementation of successful instructional strategies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Master's degree with a major in the assigned subject (preferred)
Valid Texas teaching certificate (required)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
Ability to evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectiveness
Ability to interpret data and make instructional recommendations
Ability to develop and deliver training
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Five years of teaching experience
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
TRAINING
| 1. | Coordinates the review, development, and revision of assigned subject area programs and related curriculum documents and materials including calendars, lesson plans, and assessments. | |
| 2. | Works cooperatively with directors, principals, and other district instructional specialists in monitoring the instructional program in the assigned subject area. | |
| 3. | Works directly with classroom teachers to improve content-specific instruction. Coaches individually and observes classroom instruction to facilitate improvement. | |
| 4. | Coordinates the process of integrating the TEKS into the CCISD curriculum through on-site visits, walk-throughs and professional learning communities. | |
| 5. | Assists in the creation and continuous improvement of curriculum-based assessments for subject areas assigned. | |
| 6. | Uses assessment data to examine curriculum and instruction program effectiveness for assigned subject areas and recommends changes as needed. | |
| 7. | Provides staff development in the content areas integrating TEKS and up-to-date research-based strategies to increase both teacher and student performance. | |
| 8. | Coordinates the ordering and use of instructional materials for assigned subject areas. | |
| 9. | Researches various research-based instructional materials that will focus on CCISD's curriculum and accountability process. Keep up with current trends in the assigned subject area. | |
| 10. | Provides staff development and ongoing support in the use of curriculum programs (TRS, TEXGuide, Eduphoria, etc.). | |
| 11. | Attends professional development to keep abreast of innovations in classroom instruction, student achievement, and instructional resources, including technology. | |
| 12. | Uses effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly to departments, campuses, and stakeholders. | |
| 13. | Reports curricular issues to Supervisor and shares concerns with campus administrators. | |
| 14. | Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor. |
