Our Glacier Explorers offer a unique guest experience to our visitors. Our skipper guides drive and maneuver small passenger boats to take our guests on a fun and informative excursion on the Tasman Lake, interacting around icebergs and up to the mighty terminal face of NZ’s largest glacier.
Our skipper guides are responsible for sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm for the area with our guests and delivering a memorable guest experience. No day on the Tasman Lake is ever the same and this offers variety and challenge like no other role.
What will you bring to the role?
Previous experience is an advantage, ideally a minimum of 6 months guiding experience. We provide all training to ensure that you are up to speed with our products, our services, our standards, and our expectations.
- This role requires a commitment for a full season, or to work with us permanently
- NZ driver’s license or entitlement to drive in NZ
- Passion for the outdoors and eagerness to learn and step-up.
- The ability to manage a group and strong public speaking and communication skills.
- A strong sense of responsibility, commitment, and reliability with the flexibility to work across different tours and products.
- Flexible with a can-do approach and looking to learn throughout your time with us.
To stand out:
- Previous guiding experience of six months or more is preferred
- Previous boating or water sports experience would be advantageous
- Previous first aid experience would be beneficial
- Class 2 and P endorsement would be beneficial
The role and benefits:
- This is a fixed-term or permanent, full-time position, working a minimum of 60 hours per fortnight, $28-$32 per hour
