Position Summary
The Retail Assistant Manager is responsible for setting the example of an ideal retail store sales associate and leading to that standard, assisting the Retail Manager with day-to-day store operations including achieving monthly and annual budget goals, overseeing the receiving of new merchandise, and maintaining marketing of merchandise. The Retail Assistant Manager will also assist the Retail Manager with coaching, disciplining and praising retail sales associates to maintain the company’s mission statement and core tenets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- In charge of assisting Retail Manager with day-to-day operations
- Ability to open and close the store independently
- Operate cash registers, manage financial transactions, and balance cash drawers
- In collaboration with Retail Manager, responsible for increasing store sales and achieving monthly and yearly budget goals
- In charge of assisting Retail Manager with consignors and inspection of all new merchandise to maintain quality control standards for handmade merchandise
- Develop knowledge of artisan sourced products to enhance buying experience of customers, and provide attentive hands-on experience with customers
- Responsible for maintaining website and social media content to market products
- Fostering a success-oriented, accountable environment within the Company through communication, strong leadership and culture development within all teams across all business units
- Assists Retail Manager in coaching, discipling and praising of retail sales associates to maintain company’s mission statement and core tenets and policies
- Handling customer and employee issues while on duty
- Ensures the store is being re-merchandised as sell through occurs and store is being kept clean and organized so the store looks full providing customers with great shopping experience
- Manages and monitors inventory levels and reacts to need for sourcing replenishment of products in a timely manner
- Assist with physical inventory
- Assist with shipping online and in store orders to customer
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Evenings, weekends and holidays required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to involve sales team in planning, decision-making, facilitating, and process improvement; be available to staff; provide regular performance feedback; and develop subordinates’ skills and encourage growth
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner as well as skillfully gather and analyze information
- Ability to be detail oriented
- Ability to foster a teamwork environment across all teams and business units
- Strong ability to oversee and manage to ensure quality of customer experience
