Job Description

The Staff Accountant leads accounting functions for profit center(s) and ensures the accounting functions are performed in accordance with BBAG (Brown & Brown Accounting Guidelines) or otherwise GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
 

How You Will Contribute:

  • Prepares journal entries, reviews general ledger and related financial statements for reasonableness within set deadlines

  • Accumulates and analyzes information for the preparation of financial statements, ledgers, and reports on a monthly basis within set deadlines

  • Prepares and/or reviews monthly bank reconciliations for bank accounts and addresses reconciling items in a timely manner

  • Prepares month-end reports and reconciliations

  • Prepares monthly accrual journal entries for expenses

  • Reviews and analyzes general ledger account balances

  • Answers inquiries from internal and external customers

  • Verifies accuracy of accounting data, and makes recommendations for corrections

Skills and Experience to be Successful:

  • A minimum of 1+ years’ experience in an accounting or financial role.

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite Products (Outlook, Excel, Word)

  • Industry software experience a plus

  • Insurance background a plus

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. 

  • Good analytical abilities

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

  • Pay range is based on experience: $70k to $80k annual. The pay range provided is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for the role.

$70,350.00 - $80,000.00 Annual
