    MWTA - BULLETIN #46 - MATH SPECIALIST - DISTRICT WIDE

    Monroe-Woodbury CSD is seeking a highly skilled and collaborative K-5 Mathematics Instructional Specialist to foster excellence in math instruction across our elementary buildings. In this role, you will act as a bridge between research and practice, supporting general education teachers, special education providers, and Math Academic Intervention Services (AIS) staff.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must have NYS Certification in elementary Gr. K-5
    • Must meet NYSED Fingerprinting requirements

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • The successful candidate will provide high-level professional guidance to ensure that every student has access to rigorous, visible, and conceptually rich mathematics instruction.
    • Ensure the fidelity of research-based practices, specifically focusing on the importance of building concept knowledge using a gradual release of scaffolds from concrete to abstract. 
    • Partner with staff to engage in data-based decision-making including error-analysis to diagnose student misconceptions and inform instruction.
    • Design and lead workshops and seminars on best practices in primary mathematics, providing the necessary follow-up to ensure learning is successfully implemented in the classroom.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert on the Next Generation Mathematics Learning Standards for grades K-5.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

    • A firm grasp of research-based math instruction and the ability to make math "visible" for diverse learners.
    • Proven ability to analyze student work and assessment data to inform differentiated instruction.
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven track record of building trust and professional respect with colleagues.
    • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple schedules, data sets, and professional development timelines.
    • Previous experience facilitating professional development and providing direct classroom-based support to adult learners.
