Description of the role 
We’re seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Business Advisory Services team in Auckland. 

In this role, you’ll deliver high-quality compliance and advisory services to a diverse client base, while supervising and supporting junior team members. You’ll play a key role in meeting client deliverables, maintaining strong client relationships, and contributing to the growth and capability of the team. 

What makes you ‘just right’ 

  • Degree in Business (Accounting major) and full CA membership (or equivalent) 
  • 3 - 4 years’ experience within a Chartered Accounting firm 
  • Strong technical capability across income tax returns and financial statements 
  • Experience preparing compliance accounts and managing multiple client deadlines 
  • Confidence reviewing work and coaching junior team members 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a willingness to build broader technology capability 
  • Exposure to digital tools and emerging technologies (including AI‑enabled accounting or advisory tools) is advantageous, with a willingness to adapt to evolving ways of working
  • Exposure to IFRS and/or cross border clients is highly regarded 

What your day might look like 

  • Preparing income tax returns and compliance financial accounts across various entity types 
  • Managing cash flow planning, budgeting, and other advisory engagements 
  • Communicating directly with clients and responding to enquiries professionally and efficiently 
  • Allocating work, supervising and reviewing team output to ensure quality standards are met 
  • Coaching and supporting junior staff, including contributing to internal training sessions 
  • Working alongside Managers, Principals, and Partners on more complex advisory matters
  • Keeping up to date with changes in tax, accounting standards, and firm processes
