The Infusion / Outpatient Registered Nurse promotes optimal health, well-being, and safety through the use of the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, organizational policies, and the Idaho Nurse Practice Act. This role provides relationship-based care in an outpatient infusion clinic setting, recognizing the patient, family, and/or designee as full partners in providing compassionate, coordinated, and culturally competent care based on respect for patient preferences, values, and needs.
The Infusion / Outpatient RN delivers safe, evidence-based nursing care to patients receiving infusion therapies and other outpatient treatments, collaborates with providers and interdisciplinary teams, integrates best current evidence into practice, and uses data, information, and technology to support clinical decision-making, quality improvement, and patient safety.
Responsibilities:
· Evaluates, plans, implements, and documents nursing care for patients receiving infusion therapy and outpatient services
· Assists physician during examinations and procedures
· Performs patient assessments, vital signs, laboratory draws, venous access (including peripheral IV insertion), and other clinical procedures as appropriate
· Administers intravenous infusions, injections, medications, blood products, and biologic therapies in accordance with provider orders, organizational policies, and scope of practice. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
· Monitors patients before, during, and after infusion treatments, identifying and responding promptly to adverse reactions or changes in condition
· Promotes patient's independence by establishing patient care goals and providing education on diagnoses, medications, infusion therapies, potential side effects, and self-care
· Maintains a high degree of accuracy, critical thinking, creativity, and professional judgment in an outpatient clinical environment, and performs other related duties as assigned including but not limited to helping in the Emergency department as well as in-patient unit
· Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:
· Graduate of a nationally accredited Nursing program required
· State of Idaho Registered Nurse or licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure or current RN licensure from a state participating in the “multistate privilege to practice” compact with Idaho prior to start date
· 1+ year acute care, emergency, oncology, outpatient infusion, or critical care experience preferred.
· Proven competence with peripheral IV insertion; central line management experience preferred.
· Biologics, IVIG, iron, and blood administration experience and Hazardous Drug Handling Competency
· BLS Required, ACLS within 6 months of hire
Full time, 40 hours per week, 8AM-4:30PM, Monday-Friday
