At the INSERT INSTITUTION NAME HERE, the mission is to promote safety for the citizens of the Commonwealth by
operating an efficient adult correctional institution. Our main purpose is to provide a safe, secure, humane
environment for its residents and to prepare incarcerated felons for a successful reintegration into society
using constructive classification, employment training programs and treatment services and social programs.
The Corrections Unit Administrator II plays a vital role in this mission as the administrator and supervisor
of their assigned units within the institution
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Supervise and direct the work of security staff. - Supervise and direct the work of Corrections Unit Administrator I & Classification and Treatment Officers.
- Supervise the maintenance of the Unit and review and evaluate all assigned work.
- Serves as the chairperson of Institutional committees.
- Act as assigned Duty Officer on a rotating basis.
- Investigate and report on incidents, accidents and complaints between inmates and staff.
- Assists in the development of policy and procedure.
The ideal candidate for this job will show excellent leadership and communication skills. They must have the
ability to make sound decisions under pressure, think creatively, pay close attention to detail and show
teamwork and initiative.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Must have three years of experience in any operation or program within the field of corrections, law enforcement, criminal justice, or social work dealing with the rehabilitation of offenders. One year of the required experience must include supervisory experience in a custodial setting.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
A master's degree in corrections, criminal justice, law enforcement, social work, sociology, counseling and guidance or related field will substitute for one year of the non-supervisory experience.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Additional experience in any operation or program within the field of corrections, law enforcement, criminal justice, or social work dealing with the rehabilitation of offenders will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions
Work is generally performed within a correctional institution. Work environment is hazardous due to working in a state correctional facility with inmates.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
