Events Operations Team Member


Position Summary

The Events Operations Team Member plays a key role in delivering exceptional guest experiences across weddings, private events, and winery functions. This position supports the full lifecycle of events—from setup to service to breakdown—ensuring every detail reflects the elevated standard of The Williamsburg Winery.

This role reports directly to the Director of Events, Wedding & Event Coordinator, and the Manager on Duty (MOD) for each event, and works collaboratively with both Front of House and Back of House teams.


Duties & Responsibilities

Event Setup & Execution

  • Set up event spaces, including tables, chairs, linens, buffets, bars, and beverage stations
  • Assist with coffee service and general event preparation
  • Ensure all spaces are organized, polished, and guest-ready

Food & Beverage Service

  • Prepare and serve beverages, including wine, beer, and non-alcoholic options
  • Bartend event bars, including setup, breakdown, inventory tracking, and responsible alcohol service
    • Required certifications and training must be completed and maintained
  • Take and deliver food and beverage orders with accuracy and efficiency
  • Run food to tables and respond promptly to guest needs
  • Bus and reset tables in a timely and organized manner

Guest Experience

  • Provide professional, attentive, and friendly service at all times
  • Maintain a clean, welcoming, and high-quality guest environment
  • Address guest questions or concerns with a positive, solution-focused approach

Breakdown & Cleanup

  • Assist with full event breakdown, including clearing tables, dish handling, sweeping, mopping, and resetting spaces
  • Ensure all areas are left clean, organized, and ready for the next service

Compliance, Safety & Security

  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including ABC, VDACS, and OSHA standards
  • Follow all responsible alcohol service practices
  • Immediately report any accidents, injuries, or safety concerns
  • Report any maintenance or safety deficiencies promptly
  • Ensure proper closing procedures are followed, including securing the property when required

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support additional operational tasks as assigned based on event needs

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in hospitality, events, food & beverage, or customer service preferred
  • Bartending experience is a plus; willingness to obtain required certifications required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a guest-first mindset
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining elevated service standards
  • Ability to follow direction and adapt quickly during live event execution
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional in appearance and conduct
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8+ hours)
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 40–50 lbs
  • Comfortable bending, lifting, reaching, and working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions

Schedule Requirements

  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work extended hours based on event schedules
