    Position Title: Junior High (JH) Winter Coaches (Sports offered - Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Wrestling, Co-Ed Swimming, & Cheerleading)
    Location: Southmont Junior High School
    School Corporation: South Montgomery Community School Corporation
    Season: Winter Sports Seasons: October 2026 - March 2027 (depending on the sport)


    Position Overview

    Southmont Athletics is seeking motivated & student-centered Winter Coaches to lead and develop student-athletes in a positive and competitive environment. If you are interested in coaching at any level in the Junior High (Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Volunteer Coach) please apply now!


     Responsibilities - varies based on coaching level 

    • Plan and conduct daily practices
    • Teach sport-specific fundamentals and strategies
    • Promote teamwork, discipline, and good sportsmanship
    • Supervise student-athletes during practices and competitions
    • Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school staff
    • Ensure compliance with school and athletic department policies
    • Maintain equipment and facilities

    Qualifications

    • Previous coaching and/or playing experience preferred
    • Knowledge of junior high athletic development
    • Strong leadership and communication skills
    • Must meet school corporation employment requirements (including a background check)

    • Positive role model for students
    • Ability to build relationships with middle school athletes
    • Commitment to academic and athletic excellence
