    Job Title:     Assistant Principal 

    Department/Group:   Administrator 12 month

     

    Position Summary/Purpose:  Assist in providing a safe and effective learning environment for all students and support the instructional program of the school. The Assistant Principal serves as a resource to the principal, teachers, and other staff members and assists in implementing and enforcing established policies and procedures. The Assistant Principal coordinates school activities and communicates effectively with all members of the school community, including staff, students, and families.

     

    Position Type: Full-Time  Starting Rate: $90,000/Yr. or higher based on experience

    Role and Responsibilities / Essential Job Functions:

    • Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students related to academic performance and social-emotional development
    • Support a school climate that promotes equitable opportunities for all students, positive conduct, and strong character while supporting the attendance, conduct, health, and safety of students
    • Assist in managing, supervising, and evaluating assigned personnel to ensure alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the District
    • Assist in the development and implementation of effective student and staff schedules for instructional, curricular, and extracurricular programs
    • Supervise students and maintain a safe, orderly school environment
    • Communicate effectively with students, staff, families, community members, and colleagues to support strong relationships and collaboration
    • Assist in leading staff and the school community in the development and implementation of building-level goals focused on improving student achievement
    • Analyze and interpret school-level data and support the development of School Improvement Plans that include strategies to improve student outcomes
    • Assist in supervising and evaluating the performance of assigned personnel and support professional growth activities aligned with individual, school, and District goals
    • Perform other duties as assigned and appropriate to the position

     

    Qualifications and Education Requirements:

    • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Principal or General Administrative endorsement

     

    Preferred Skills

    • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to evaluate situations, consider options, and make sound decisions
    • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
    • Ability to build positive relationships with staff, students, and families
    • As a multi-language district, we always prefer staff who are bilingual but it is not required for this position.

     

     

    Working conditions / Environment:

     

    Physical Demands: Mobility within the instructional areas and throughout the school facility; visual acuity including close, distance, and depth perception; hearing to receive information; verbal communication to exchange information. Physical demands may include walking, sitting, bending, twisting, stooping, reaching forward, lifting up to 25 pounds unassisted, pushing, and pulling.

     

    Environmental Conditions:  Indoor, climate-controlled school environment. May include being outdoors for extended periods throughout the school year.
