The Estimator is responsible for preparing and coordinating preparation of full estimates on projects required by client’s documents and provides total bid price.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar field.
- 20 – 30 years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience in estimating.
- Able to operate in a professional office environment.
- Ability to use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- Regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to stand and walk.
- Must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and frequently life and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.
- Positive service-oriented attitude toward the firm, our employees, and the clients.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Oversees and supervises a team of Project Control specialists (estimators and/or schedulers).
- Develop business and clientele for project controls group.
- Financial responsibility of the Project Controls team.
- Review and evaluate requests for estimates from clients.
- Supervises the preparation of construction estimates or schedules on a program or project level.
- Ensure estimates or schedules are complete and accurate based on the scope of work.
- Familiar with costs associated with various trade disciplines.
- Supervise the take-offs of construction documents.
- Supervise the use of spreadsheets or estimating software.
- Supervise the pricing for materials.
- Obtain bids from subcontractors as required.
- Supervise or prepare cost analysis by recapitulating material, labor, equipment, subcontractor and overhead costs incurred in the installation of items.
- Supervise of prepare estimates where predetermined standard(s) are not available.
- Advises clients of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items or computer database.
- Develops and maintains resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.
- Attend departmental meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
LOCATION: Honolulu, HI
SALARY RANGE: $110,000 – $160,00 per year depending on experience
