Job Description

The R&D Application Engineer supports the development of brake pads and friction materials, working closely with Project Management, Design, Testing, and Customers.
The role focuses on defining pad attribute targets, guiding technical development, coordinating validation activities, and managing technical communication and feedback loops throughout the project lifecycle.

 

  • Define pad attribute targets with PM during early project phases
  • Lead pad design reviews with internal teams and Customers
  • Steer technical development to meet brake performance and comfort targets
  • Represent Engineering in crossfunctional project meetings
  • Coordinate and prioritize testing activities and validation plans
  • Monitor test progress, analyze results, and plan necessary updates
  • Prepare and deliver technical documentation and test result presentations
  • Manage complaints and escalate critical issues related to production release
  • Support crossfunctional problem solving and continuous improvement
  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields
  • Experience in R&D, product development, or application engineering
  • Knowledge of brake system attributes and friction material behavior
  • Knowledge of component testing and experience in customer-facing technical roles preferred
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills
  • Ability to coordinate multiple validation activities and meet project milestones in a multicultural environment
  • Precision, attention to detail, and resilience under tight timelines
  • Good computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, technical tools)
  • Fluent English
  • Availability for travels to customer testing locations when necessary
