Position Overview 

The Secondary Social Studies Teacher at Muskegon Catholic Central in Muskegon will support the school’s college-preparatory social studies program by teaching courses aligned with Michigan Social Studies Standards. Depending on experience and departmental needs, instruction may include courses such as World History, US History, Civics, Economics, AP courses. We see opportunities for those interested in law, religion, debate, business applications, human geography, and other courses. 

Qualifications - The ideal candidate will have a Valid Michigan teaching certificate, Certified to teach Social Studies (RX) or related secondary endorsement. A second certification in any subject would be ideal. 




Key Responsibilities 

-Demonstrate proficiency in the use of data to inform and improve instruction
-Design engaging learning experiences that build strong historical thinking and civic reasoning skills 
-Help students analyze historical events, civic institutions, and economic systems to better understand the modern world 
-Foster critical thinking, discussion, and inquiry-based learning in the classroom
-Support students with varying learning needs while building deep conceptual understanding 
-Collaborate with colleagues to promote student success within our community
-Prepare students for responsible citizenship, college, and future careers
-Support the school’s mission of developing the whole person—spirit, mind, and body
