Description

 

The Gage Calibration Specialist will be responsible for systematically tracking gaging to ensure it is calibrated in the frequency required by our quality system. Coordinate with outside service providers to ensure any gaging sent out is done in a timely basis. The incumbent may occasionally be required to order new gaging as needed for new jobs or to replace existing gaging when approval is granted.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Track the need and frequency of gaging and tooling that requires inspection.
  • Inspect and calibrate gaging and tooling in a timely basis. Be aware some gaging / tooling may be employee owned.
  • Ensure the timely return of gaging / tooling to machinist.
  • Track and monitor gages that are sent out for inspection.
  • Request gages from Acutec customers when required.
  • Frequently required to clean gaging before returning to inventory or sending out to floor.
  • Ensure we have correct gages for upcoming jobs.
  • Occasionally required to schedule service provider to come to Acutec and inspect gaging onsite.
  • Occasionally required to search and find gages that are lost / missing.
  • Set up Johnson gages and Sunnen gages as required
  • Maintain and distribute an Out of Tolerance report and advise employees of personal gaging that is approaching an unacceptable condition.
  • Regularly required to go out on the shop floor to machine cells to look for and gather gaging.
  • Fulfill all gage requests for production jobs and assist inspection with gaging needs.

Key Roles

  • Tracks use of gaging accurately including assessing accuracy and durability of gaging to determine extending or shortening of calibration frequencies.
  • Internal and external calibrations of company and employee-owned gages
  • Training and creating work instructions for all gages
  • Works well with internal customers and calibration suppliers

Education & Experience Requirements:

Requires a high school diploma and experience of a previous tooling background.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

The employee must possess well math comprehension and alternate problem solving skills.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to loud noises and sometimes chaotic conditions/situations. The employee also interacts with the plant manager, cell leaders, stoplight supervisor, secretary, shipping leader, and machine operators.
