Job Description

  As an Ophthalmic Scribe, you will drive that superior clinical service while servicing patients and understanding the value of compassionate service, all while enabling the below skills/abilities, and responsibilities.  

Skills/Abilities:  

· Able to demonstrate basic computer skills and learn new software programs 

· Able to remain focused and organized 

· Reliable transportation and willing to travel (locally) 

· Able to stand with mobility for extended periods of time 

· Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality 

· Able to demonstrate flexibility, adaptability and versatility  

· Able to actively listen and transmit information 

Preferred:  

· Previous Ophthalmic practice experience 

· Typing skills of 35-40 WPM 

· Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy 

  

Responsibilities: 

· Participates in the delivery of patient care in an effective manner 

· Under direction of physician, may call pharmacy with prescription refills and records prescriptions in patients’ charts 

· Updating patient history, physical exam and other pertinent health information 

· Ensures proper condition of the examination room and stocks supplies, if needed 

· Assists in minor procedure and lasers, as necessary. Familiar with procedure instruments 

· Assists Ophthalmic Technicians to perform diagnostic testing necessary for evaluation  

· Ensures that all clinical data, lab or other test results, the interpretation of the results by the physician, are recorded accurately in the medical records 

· Interacts with patients, visitors and all personnel in a courteous manner 

· Perform other clerical duties and tasks to improve provider productivity and clinic flow 

· Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, local requirements, and all HIPAA standards 

· Position may require work at more than one location during a scheduled work week
