We are conducting a confidential search for a hands-on Controller to lead accounting and financial reporting functions for a growing industrial mining operation in Northern New York.
This is a fully onsite operational leadership role. The Controller will own the site’s accounting, reporting, FP&A, and ERP implementation initiatives while partnering closely with operations leadership and corporate finance.
This position requires strong technical accounting capability, ERP implementation experience, and the ability to operate independently in a collaborative, non-corporate environment.
Position Responsibilities
• Lead all site accounting and financial reporting functions
• Oversee cost accounting, inventory cycle counts, and budgetary controls
• Own FP&A processes including budgeting, forecasting (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow), and variance analysis
• Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Track capital project spending and oversee fixed asset capitalization
• Support internal and external audits and implement corrective actions
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements
• Prepare financial statements and regulatory filings
• Lead ERP system selection, evaluation, and implementation
• Partner with site leadership to drive financial insight and operational improvement
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across departments
Requirements
Required Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a financial leader (public company experience preferred)
• Advanced Excel proficiency (true hands-on capability required)
• Expert-level QuickBooks experience
• Experience with construction project accounting, agile/lean practices, and FP&A
• Experience selecting and implementing ERP systems in mining, industrial, or manufacturing environments
• Experience with internal controls and SOX implementation
• Knowledge of tax and transfer pricing
• Knowledge of IFRS accounting standards and U.S. GAAP
• Ability to work full-time onsite in Northern New York
• Authorization to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
• CPA designation
• Experience in mining, heavy industrial, or manufacturing environments
• Experience operating in growth-stage or expanding operational settings
