    Current teachers under contract with Granite School District do not need to apply to be a coach.  Please contact the school and make them aware of your coaching interest. 




    Job Summary:

    The incumbent will be responsible for directing, or assisting to direct, a competitive sport program and meeting the Utah High School Activities Association (UHSAA) requirements for the program.  The coach is both a mentor and positive role model for all students with which they interact.

    Required Knowledge and Skills:
     

    • Ability to build a positive working relationship with students, school staff, administration, parents, and the community.
    • Skill in developing young athletes while building a strong, positive, and competitive team culture that includes good sportsmanship and excellence in the classroom.
    • Ability to mentor, train, and educate athletes in the sport and the necessary skills and techniques related to the game.
    • Ability to foster excellence and a winning culture both on and off the court or field.
    • Ability to train and educate student athletes in safety and injury prevention.
    • Knowledge of UHSAA requirements and regulations.
    • Ability to continue a program with strong traditions and the skills necessary to work with an involved community.


    Minimum Requirements:
     

    • Cleared background check through Granite School District
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Requires completing multiple trainings and maintaining multiple certifications, including anti-bullying/hazing training, concussion training, and First Aid/CPR certification.  Specific requirements may vary depending on the position.

    Coaches have significant unsupervised access to students and are required to clear a background check prior to serving as a coach.  Granite School District will cover the cost of this background check.
