Description

The Department of Economics is seeking a Graduate Student Assistant to provide research and editing support to a faculty member engaged in a major research project, which will culminate in a book on Behavioral Economics and Public Policy.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reading assigned academic articles and familiarizing themselves with relevant documents.
  • Compiling an annotated bibliography that will encompass behavioral economics publications and academic peer-reviewed articles.
  • Assisting with the collection of literature, data, and other information.
  • Proofreading and fact-checking manuscripts to identify any grammatical and spelling errors.
  • Maintaining and ensuring the correctness of all references and citations.
  • Reformatting chapters and references according to the publisher’s guidelines.
  • Assisting with the editing and revision of manuscript drafts based on faculty feedback.
  • Preparing tables, figures, and visual aids for inclusion in the manuscript.
  • Coordinating with faculty and other contributors to gather missing information or clarify content.
  • Organizing files, documents, and research materials for easy access and retrieval.
  • Ensuring compliance with copyright and publication standards for materials used in the manuscript.
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned occasionally.

Requirements

  • Junior or senior in a combined program, or a graduate student.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with experience in proofreading and fact-checking manuscripts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel for preparing tables, figures, and organizing data.
  • Demonstrated research abilities, including literature collection and compiling annotated bibliographies.
  • Experience in editing manuscripts and working with publishers, including formatting chapters and references according to guidelines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills for managing references, citations, files, and research materials.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills for collaborating with faculty.

Summary

Exact schedule to be determined with supervisor; no more than 20 hours per week when school is in session and no more than 35 hours per week during breaks.
