Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our team at Tulsa Center for Rehabilitation & Healthcare. The ADON will assist the Director of Nursing in planning, developing, and directing the overall operations of the Nursing Services department, ensuring high-quality care and services to our residents. Required Qualifications:
A Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university
Must have, as a minimum, three (3) years of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing home, or other related healthcare facility
Current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the practicing state
Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to long-term care
Current CPR certification
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists the Director of Nursing in planning, developing, and directing the overall operations of the Nursing Services department
Interprets and communicates policies and procedures to nursing staff, and monitors staff practices and implementation
Participates in daily or weekly management team meetings to discuss census changes, resident changes in status, complaints or concerns
Assists in evaluating work performance of all nursing personnel and implements discipline according to operational policies
Collaborates with members of the interdisciplinary team, physicians, consultants, and community agencies to identify and resolve issues and improve the quality of services
Oversees indirect patient care activities, including medication administration, treatment, and rehabilitation
Participates in quality assessment and improvement activities to ensure high-quality patient care
Additional Tasks:
Treats all residents with dignity and respect, promotes and protects all residents' rights
Establishes a culture of compliance by adhering to all facility policies and procedures
Follows established infection control policies and procedures
Provides direct patient care as necessary
Participates in all life safety and emergency drills and trainings
Subject to frequent interruptions, hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors
Personal Skills and Traits Desired:
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of teamwork
Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
