About the Department

GENERAL SUMMARY:  Instruct or coach groups or individuals in tennis activities; demonstrate techniques and form, observe participants, and explain to them corrective measures necessary to improve their skills; develop and implement individualized approaches to learning; and direct and lead children and adults of various ages teaching Tennis skills, rules, etiquette and sportsmanship in a fun environment. 

The ideal candidate possesses the ability to follow a management style that is input oriented and values fairness, problem solving and the development of partnerships; and to work effectively as a member of a team; as well as a desire to be part of an organization that values service, people, integrity, responsibility, innovation and teamwork.

Position Duties

  • Teach age-appropriate tennis rules, skills and techniques.
  • Develop educational and training programs.
  • Evaluate capabilities and training needs; and skills of athletes.
  • Demonstrate activity techniques and equipment use.
  • Enforce rules and regulations.
  • Explain regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Administer First Aid or call for assistance as needed.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services which includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Education and Training - Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
  • Service Orientation - Looking for ways to help people.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • More than 1 year working with children and/or adults.
  • Knowledge of tennis rules, techniques and philosophies.
  • At least 16 years of age.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Leadership experience.
  • Tennis knowledge and background including instruction preferred.
