Reporting to the President, the Vice President, Real Estate is responsible for leading Pattison Food Group’s real estate strategy, portfolio management, and business development initiatives in support of the company’s retail network, growth plans, and long-term business objectives.
This role oversees all aspects of the real estate function, including market planning, site selection, lease negotiations, renewals, relocations, expansions, and dispositions, while also identifying and supporting broader business development opportunities that align with enterprise priorities. Working closely with executive leadership and cross-functional partners, the Vice President provides strategic direction on portfolio optimization, store network planning, market opportunities, and growth initiatives, ensuring decisions support operational needs, financial performance, and long-term value creation.
Success in this role requires deep retail real estate expertise, strong negotiation capability, sound business judgment, and the ability to build trusted relationships internally and externally.
You will be responsible for:
Leading the company’s real estate strategy and business development activities in alignment with business priorities, store network plans, and long-term growth objectives.
Overseeing the full real estate lifecycle, including site identification, market analysis, lease negotiations, renewals, relocations, expansions, and dispositions.
Developing market planning recommendations to support new store opportunities, relocations, portfolio optimization, and strategic growth initiatives.
Identifying and evaluating business development opportunities, partnerships, and growth initiatives that support enterprise priorities.
Evaluating real estate and development opportunities through demographic, financial, operational, and competitive analysis.
Leading negotiations with landlords, developers, brokers, and other external partners to secure favourable commercial outcomes and manage risk.
Partnering closely with operations, finance, legal, and construction teams to support store development and broader business decisions.
Providing strategic recommendations to executive leadership on real estate trends, risks, opportunities, portfolio performance, and growth opportunities.
Monitoring market conditions and competitive activity to inform location strategy, investment decisions, and long-term planning.
Overseeing the real estate portfolio to ensure strong governance, alignment to business needs, and long-term value.
Leading, developing, and mentoring the team while establishing clear priorities and accountability.
You have:
15+ years of progressive experience in commercial real estate, business development, or a related field, including senior leadership responsibility within a large, complex, or multi-site organization.
7-10+ years in a leadership role, with accountability for portfolio strategy, negotiations, strategic growth initiatives, and team leadership.
Deep expertise in site selection, market planning, lease negotiations, renewals, and portfolio strategy.
Strong understanding of retail real estate markets, lease structures, network planning principles, and broader growth strategy.
Proven success leading complex negotiations and managing relationships with landlords, developers, brokers, and legal partners.
Strong financial and analytical capability, including the ability to assess real estate opportunities, development opportunities, and portfolio performance.
Experience partnering with executive leadership on strategic growth and investment decisions.
Demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
A bachelor’s degree in business, real estate, finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Valid driver’s license in good standing and access to a reliable vehicle required.
