Position Overview
Hamilton Construction Co. is seeking a Journey Level Carpenter – Bridge to support bridge construction projects in the Boise, Idaho area. This role involves performing skilled carpentry work related to the construction of bridge structures, including forming and pouring footings, walls, columns, and bridge decks. Experience working in BNSF Right of Way is highly desirable.
This is a Safety-Sensitive Position requiring strict adherence to safety protocols and federal compliance requirements, including eligibility for E-Rail Safe certification.
Key Responsibilities
Bridge Carpentry Work
• Construct, install, and remove forms for footings, walls, columns, and bridge decks
• Assist with pouring and finishing concrete for bridge structures
• Read and follow construction drawings and specifications
• Ensure accuracy and quality in all carpentry work
Tool & Equipment Use
• Use standard carpenter hand tools as required
• Safely operate power tools provided by the company
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
Rail & Site Compliance (BNSF Work)
• Follow all safety protocols when working within BNSF Right of Way
• Comply with federal railroad safety requirements and E-Rail Safe certification standards
• Work in accordance with rail site access and operational procedures
Safety & Compliance
• Follow all company safety policies and project-specific requirements
• Adhere to environmental and jobsite regulations at all times
• Maintain a constant awareness of safety in high-risk construction environments
• Recognize and comply with all requirements of a safety-sensitive position
Attendance & Reliability
• Report to work on time and prepared each day
• Maintain reliable transportation to and from job sites
• Work collaboratively with crew members to complete tasks efficiently
Required Qualifications
- Strong background in heavy civil construction, including bridge, highway, transit, and rail projects
• Extensive experience forming and pouring concrete for bridge structures
• Ability to safely work at heights and on scaffolding
• Experience working in BNSF Right of Way preferred
• Proficiency with standard carpenter hand tools
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions and demanding environments
• Must be eligible to pass federal background check for E-Rail Safe certification
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen may be required
• Pre-employment screening and background check may be required
• Strong attention to detail, craftsmanship, and safety
