Duties
The individual selected for this position will: Serve as senior supervisor over the entire branch support staff; Serve as liaison between Headquarters, sponsoring divisions, Tucson Contact Center and Logistics and Command Center. Assign/explain work requirements to supervisors and ensure support staff are carrying out assigned duties; Assure production and accuracy requirements are met. Perform computer activities to monitor survey progress and performance; ensure all monitoring and feedback sessions are conducted appropriately. Keep subordinate employees informed of management goals and objectives and higher-level management informed of all necessary issues and concerns. Review and analyze records/reports of work production, costs and equipment and staff utilization to evaluate progress, identify/resolve problems and control or reduce costs. Foster an environment of open communication in the workforce by advocating teamwork, innovation, prevention, and customer satisfaction. Hear employee complaints and grievances; Be responsible for applying the principles of Equal Employment Opportunity in the supervised area.

To qualify for the position of Supervisory Operations Specialist, at GS-0301-9, you must meet the minimum and/or basic qualification requirements listed below. Specialized Experience: You qualify at the GS-09 if you possess one year of specialized experience that equips you with the skills needed to perform the job duties. This specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the grade 07 level to meet the qualification requirements in the Federal service. Specialized experience defined as experience in planning, directing and monitoring telephone activities designed to acquire missing or incomplete data items, reporting progress and potential problems to higher-level staff, and performing a wide range of personnel/administrative duties such as assigning and reviewing work, assuring that production and accuracy requirements are met, approving leave and recommending performance standards. OR Education: Grade 09: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D., if related. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. This job opportunity is for a Supervisory Operations Specialist position in the Jeffersonville Contact Center (JCC), at the National Processing Center (NPC), U.S. Bureau of the Census, located in Jeffersonville, Indiana. The incumbent serves as a supervisor with the responsibility of directing employees who perform calling center operations necessary for NPC surveys. Tour of Duty: Hours range from 7:00am - 12:00am, workdays can vary and can include evenings and weekends. Whenever there is an increase/decrease in the workload, your work schedule may change.
