The North Plainfield School District, a culturally diverse school community in Somerset County serving approximately 3,700 students from Pre-K through grade 12, seeks a dynamic, enthusiastic, and innovative professional for the position of History Teacher at North Plainfield High School.  As a high school teacher, you will play a vital role in creating a culture of high expectations and success where all students thrive. 

For candidates who are still in the process of attaining certification, please note that the North Plainfield School District participates in the NJDOE Limited Certificate Program. This program may allow you to work in a full-time role while completing your final certification requirements.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Valid New Jersey Teaching Certificate (or eligibility) in Social Studies/History
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Passion for educational equity and high academic standards
• Commitment to continuous professional growth
• Ability to build strong relationships with students and families
• Flexibility and a solutions-oriented mindset

Preferred:

• Prior teaching experience at the high school level
• Familiarity with New Jersey Student Learning Standards
• Bilingual Spanish Speaker 
   

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement standards-aligned lesson plans in U.S. and World History
• Create a positive, structured classroom environment that supports student learning
• Assess and monitor student progress using a variety of evaluation methods
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
• Communicate regularly with students, families, and colleagues
• Participate in professional development and school-wide initiatives
• Support school goals and take on additional responsibilities as needed

Salary: $69,630 (minimum) to $103,470 (maximum) commensurate with experience
