The John Cooper School, an independent, college-preparatory school in The Woodlands, TX, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Volleyball Program Head (Head Coach) to lead its volleyball program. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Program Head will oversee all aspects of the volleyball program for grades six through twelve. This position requires professionalism, a strong work ethic, adaptability, and a genuine dedication to supporting student-athletes. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader who encourages a culture of integrity, teamwork, and competitive excellence. They must prioritize player and program development while cultivating a positive, inclusive, and growth-oriented team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
•Oversee the development, implementation, and strategic planning of the volleyball program.
•Recruit, mentor, and supervise the coaching staff.
•Develop and manage practice and game protocols and procedures.
•Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes integrity, leadership, and personal growth.
•Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and protocols.
•Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrative colleagues to support student-athletes.
•Serve as an ambassador for the program, promoting its vision within the community.
•Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Preferred Characteristics:
•Bachelor’s degree required.
•Successful coaching experience at the high school, collegiate, or club level.
•Strong leadership and organizational skills.
•Effective verbal and written communication skills.
•Passion for working with students and a commitment to their holistic development.
•Ability to inspire confidence, teamwork, and competitive excellence.
•Demonstrates enthusiasm, energy, and creativity in coaching and program development.
•Understanding of and commitment to the mission and philosophy of The John Cooper School.
