Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

To generate interest in Kimpton Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh, Commoner and Biergarten through public relations, marketing efforts, local partnerships, community engagement and social media presence. This position contributes to and supports the development of marketing materials and requires a proactive marketing professional to promote the property. Experience and good working knowledge of social media, public relations, digital marketing, web materials, photography and email marketing is essential to succeed in this role. This person will identify and capitalize on opportunities to market the property based upon business needs to generate new revenue.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Participate in the development and creation of comprehensive marketing plans and programs, focused on partnerships, traditional and digital advertising, collateral, social media and public relations.
  • Implement and execute tactics that support the strategies identified within the annual marketing plan.
  • Ensure that all internal and external marketing for the hotel is done in keeping with the brand guidelines and design, consistent with Kimpton standards and Marcus Hotels & Resorts specifications.
  • Coordinate and manage all interaction between Kimpton, the property and any outside agencies to ensure alignment and appropriate amplification of efforts.
  • Create and manage press releases as needed. Coordinate efforts of any external PR agencies regarding promotional activities to include print, online, electronic media and direct mail.
  • Establish and develop partnerships with local entities that will serve to keep property relevant and trend-setting.
  • Build relationships with community partners to enhance the property’s reputation in the market.
  • Manage the development and production of promotional and collateral materials following all brand guidelines and serve as the voice of the brand for the property. Create and manage sales and promotional material for the property including menus, sales flyers and display signage, along with other promotional and collateral materials.
  • Oversee all social media channels and campaigns for the property, including content creation, scheduling, social ads and tracking.
  • Maintain consistent messaging for the property across all promotional events and materials.
  • Maintain current and accurate information on all websites associated with the property, including but not limited to Kimpton brand.com, vanity site, social media channels, listings and Online Travel Agencies (OTA) sites.
  • Manage the collection and creation of hotel photography for in-house and external use. Work with professional photographers for official property photography. Build property warehouse of photography through monitoring of social media channels and obtaining appropriate permissions.
  • Conduct market research and evaluate success of marketing efforts in relevant markets outside of Pittsburgh.
  • Lead and create agendas for regularly scheduled property marketing meetings.
  • Plan, coordinate, execute and attend property events, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree highly desired, preferably in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or related, however, any combination of education and training within marketing may also be considered.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills. Capable of working on short-term and longer-term projects simultaneously.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to meet multiple deadlines.
  • High level of comfort using computers and internet is required. Experience with email and social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, etc.) is desired
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) is required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate various options and quickly make recommendations. Must be detail-oriented.
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically. Willingness to stay current with online marketing developments and trends.
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property and oversight of events.
  • Ability to sit, stand and move throughout to perform essential job functions.
  • Adhere to and support hotel and corporate policy and procedures.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

1. Knowledge of current marketing trends and best practices

2. Existing relationships in local market or ability and desire to prioritize the development of these.

3. Experience in marketing as an intern, trainee, or associate.

4. Experience with e-mail campaign management and other general projects.
