Equipment Technician Lead
SUMMARY: Working under little to no supervision and following detailed verbal, written and hands-on instructions in manufacturing equipment of Nitinol wire, tubing, polymers and related equipment. Manage a team of technicians to keep the manufacturing equipment working in good operational conditions and able to produce in efficient manner good quality parts following the established procedures. Lead the team to perform and document simple technical functions relating to test, layout, quality control, fabrication, modification, and assembly of mechanical equipment and/or components. Performs electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical or test technician duties in such areas as manufacturing, maintenance, quality, testing, engineering, and development where limited judgment is required. Constructs, inspects, calibrates, adjusts, test and maintains equipment, components, devices and systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Coordinate and support technical activities related to equipment maintenance, both hands –on and technically.
- Able to perform and document repairs, testing, maintenance, fabrication, inspection, calibration of components, instruments, test apparatus, and associated specific discipline equipment.
- Be able to manage a team of technicians by following up the short and midterm activities planned on the equipment maintenance, overseeing the execution of their job responsibilities, resolving minor team conflicts, and training/coaching less experienced technicians in their quest to gain more knowledge of equipment and processes.
- Manage training needs to maintain a pool of certified technician so there is a minimum of a primary and back-up coverage for every process equipment.
- Sets up, adjusts and operates laboratory/manufacturing equipment.
- Performs process/product tests and audits for conformity to quality and/or regulatory requirements.
- Conducts tests and evaluations, experimental testing and investigates design proposals under operational conditions.
- Records test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data for engineer review.
- May troubleshoot electrical, test, mechanical, facilities or hydraulic systems, components and equipment.
- When applicable, follows standard operating procedures for all tasks.
- Maintains clean and orderly work area.
- Has completed all appropriate safety and environmental hazard training.
- Responsible for ensuring personal and company compliance with local and company regulations, policies and procedures for Health, Safety and Environmental compliance.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Technical education degree (required).
6-7 years of related experience (required).
Ability to read, write, communicate and understand English (preferred).
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to use test and measurement equipment associated with specific discipline.
Basic ability to read and understand technical documentation associated with specific discipline.
Must be able to successfully complete company/department training courses in manufacturing techniques.
Ability to learn regulatory (GMP) requirements. Ability to learn to use PC’s and associated software.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Intermediate personal computer skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
