    Applicant MUST hold an Ohio teaching license in one of the following areas:

     - Pre K-3 w 4/5 Generalist endorsement
    - P-5

    Reports to:  Principal, Superintendent

    Employment status:  Full Time

    Qualifications:
    - Appropriate and valid State of Ohio teaching certification/licensure
    - Professional tact, diplomacy and presentation with administrators, staff, teachers, students, parents and the community
    -Conscientious and assumes responsibility for own work performance
    - Good health, high moral character and good attendance record
    - Demonstrate enthusiasm and a sincere desire to aid all students

    General Description
    Help students to learn course of study objectives and skills which will lead toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional and psychological growth.   Direct and evaluate the learning experiences of the students in activities sponsored by the school.

    Essential Functions

    1.  Maintain records as required by district policy; maintain professional ethics

    2.  Establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships
    3.  Provide evidence of professional growth
    4.  Model appropriate dress and maintain professional distance from students
    5.  Provide guidance and counsel to the students which will promote their welfare and their proper educational development 
    6.  Administer the classroom and its program of organization and management.   Discipline and control should be maintained at all times with those whom the teacher is charged with supervising
    7.  Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with parents through effective use of interim reports, report cards, personal contacts and formal conferences.
    8.  Write clear and usable plans prior to instructional use as described by the principal with indicate direction for instruction and reflect the Board approved course of study
    9.  Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter
    10. Be prompt in arriving and dismissing a class in conformity with school schedules as well as reporting promptly to school and to any meetings called.   The teacher is not to leave school before the regularly scheduled time unless permission is secured from the principal
    11. Present clear, complete and accurate explanations and instructions suitable to the level of all learners
    12. Approach subject matter in a positive and enthusiastic manner.   Present subject matter in a calm, self-confident and poised manner
    13. Receive learners' questions comfortably and answer them clearly and completely
    14. Give positive reinforcement to acceptable academic and social behavior
    15. Consistently confront undesirable behavior and firmness and fairness
    16. Begin and end lessons on time
    17. Draw all lessons to a conclusion/culmination
    18. Monitor student behavior and activities
    19. Show respect and consideration for students, staff, parents, etc.
    20. Cooperate with extended exceptional programs, i.e. Special Needs, Gifted, Small Group
    21. Make provisions/accommodations for individual differences in students to provide an equal opportunity for all children to demonstrate their knowledge.
    22. Present and display objectives clearly.
    23. Present material relevant to the objective clearly and accurately
    24. Provide activities that will help learners meet the objectives
    25. Ask relevant and probing questions throughout the lesson to check for understanding
    26. Ask questions of varying difficulty to accommodate students of varying abilities
    27. Encourage thinking and active student participation
    28. Assist in the selection of textbooks, equipment and other instructional materials
    29. Provide homework that is relevant to the learning process
    30. Maintain accurate pupil accounting records and beome familiar with the cumulative records of all students in classes
    31. Provide for the care and protection of district property
    32. Maintain current inventory of texts, supplies and equipment and other objects issued to the teacher for use in the classroom
    33. Foster positive school-community relationships
    34. Refer attendance, health and psychological/emotional problems to principal and/or guidance counselor
    35. Share responsibility for committees and co-curricular activities as assigned by the principal or superintendent
    36. Attend county, district and faculty meetings (seminars, conferences, workshops, etc) as adopted in the district's calendar unless excused by the principal
     

    Other Duties and Responsibilities:
    1.  Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
    2.  Help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principals and democratic values.
    3.  Conduct other duties related to the teacher's duties as assigned by the principal and/or Director of Special Education.

    Additional Working Conditions:
    1.  Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue
    2.  Occasional operation of a vehicle in inclement weather conditions.
    3.  Occasional interaction among unruly children.
