Summary/Objective 

The  Pharmacist processes the dispensing of medications and pharmaceutical supplies. This Clinical position requires skills and experience in supervising and assigning task to those under their supervision.  The Pharmacist must support the mission of providing Sacred Work to all who enter the doors of Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas. 

Essential Job Duties

  1. Translates and profiles orders for intravenous medications into HIS/PIS.

  2. Supervises and checks all activities carried out by CPhT.  Checks physician orders for accurate filling prior to delivery to units.

  3. Provides information to physicians and other staff members on availability of new drugs, warnings on currently marketed drugs, and other information needed for safe administration of drugs.

  4. Utilizes sound judgment in determining priority actions based on demands for service and follows necessary safety precautions to prevent adverse events during the performance of job duties.

  5. Maintains own professional growth through appropriate education endeavors.  Also, encourages professional growth of others in the department by providing and dissemination of pertinent information.

  6. Reviews all orders for clinical appropriateness and suggests modifications in medications based on renal and hepatic functions, interacting medications or contraindications.  Ensure these interventions are appropriately documented.

Required Education and Experience

Graduate of Accredited College of Pharmacy 

Required License/Certifications

Doctor of Pharmacy or BS in Pharmacy and licensed in the state of Texas and Sterile IV certification
